Position
Rural Generalist GP – Visiting Medical Officer (VMO)
A unique opportunity for an experienced Rural Generalist GP (VMO) to join a small but essential medical service supporting a close-knit island community. This is a full-scope role combining general practice with hospital on-call work, offering true autonomy, meaningful impact, and a lifestyle that’s peaceful, remote, and rewarding.
You’ll work alongside a dedicated clinical and administrative team, with the practice located adjacent to the island’s hospital. The hospital provides emergency and acute care along with outpatient services such as mental health, physiotherapy, and podiatry.
A 7-days VMO / 7-days GP-only roster supports variety and balance while ensuring excellent earning potential.
Essential Criteria
* General or Vocational Registration with AHPRA
* ALS2 (or equivalent emergency medicine certification)
* Experience in rural general practice and emergency care
* A commitment to broad-scope, community-focused medicine
Location

Service Overview
What’s on offer:
- In-clinic earnings up to $330k
- Universal bulk billing
- Daily on-call rate equivalent to $200k/year
- Total package value: approx. $635,000 per annum
- Sign-on/relocation assistance
- House & car package valued at $60k
- Rural Doctor Government Incentive: $25k in the first year
- Full-time role or 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (other roster options available)
- Support available for PTD (Permanent Travelling Doctor) arrangements
- MMM7 + DPA location eligibility including:
- WIP rural payments

- Moratorium reduction
- ACRRM Independent Pathway & RVTS
